I want to give special thanks to George Thomas and web hosting from www.woodskunk.com
My Trek 7000 Bicycle survived the trip and is still in excellent condition. It was a great deal for a $700 bike.
My Yak bob trailer was invaluable for carrying heavy loads over rough roads without putting excess stress on my bike frame and rear wheel
I took all photos with a Kodak DC280 digital camera. I bought a couple of 64 Mbyte flash cards so that I could take up to 240 high resolution images before downloading. I am extremely pleased with the image quality and convenience -- I will never go back to conventional film.
Lowa Tanark Boots were comfortable biking, hiking, and climbing. I was able to attach a crampon to them and I even hiked with them to the summit of Aconcagua.
My Sierra Designs Tiros Tent was a comfortable shelter for me while biking in South America and climbing big mountains. When I get a replacement Tiros tent I'll be sure to get the newer one with a vestibule.
I carried an Suunto altimeter. It was much more reliable than the Avocet alitmeter I had previously owned and a necessary gauge for monotonous, unending volcano slogs.
I cooked with a MSR WhisperLite Internationale 600 Stove using dirty fuel for nearly six months and it is still in reasonable condition.
